JUNIOR LEVEL Homeschool Teacher:
Is aged between 18 to 21
Has tutoring experience
Is generally studying a Teaching diploma or degree or a Psychology degree or a Remedial Therapy degree
Would generally be present to assist the child during ONLINE homeschool classes etc. (for example Think Digital etc.)
Would generally assist the Parent or Teacher with Homeschooling the Children in one of the below Phases:
Early Childhood Development Phase Age 1 to Grade R
Foundation Phase Grade 1 to Grade 3
Intermediary Phase Grade 4 to Grade 7
Senior Phase Grade 8 to Grade 12
R8 000 to R10 000 per month
MEDIUM LEVEL Homeschool Teacher:
Is aged between 21 to 24
Has tutoring and/ or Homeschool Teaching and/or Teaching Assistant experience
Is generally studying a Teaching diploma or degree or a Psychology degree
Would be able to Homeschool the Children in one of the below Phases:
Early Childhood Development Phase Age 1 to Grade R
Foundation Phase Grade 1 to Grade 3
Intermediary Phase Grade 4 to Grade 7
R11 000 to R14 000 per month
SENIOR LEVEL Homeschool Teacher:
Is aged between 25 to 45
Has teaching experience relevant to the Phase the Children are in
Has a Teaching diploma or degree relevant to the Phase the Children are in
Would be able to Homeschool the Children relevant to the Phase they are in
Early Childhood Development Phase Age 1 to Grade R
Foundation Phase Grade 1 to Grade 3
Intermediary Phase Grade 4 to Grade 7
Senior Phase Grade 8 to Grade 12
R15 000 to R30 000 per month
Salaries are dependent on the the level of experience and qualifications required as well as in some cases the Curriculum and the Grade the children are in etc.

Roles & Responsibilities of a Homeschool Teacher
The following would be considered general roles and responsibilities of a Homeschool Teacher in South Africa, keeping in mind that each family is different so this is a general overview:
- arrives at the child’s home to teach them in accordance with the prescribed curriculum
- liaises with the parents about the child’s progress
- submits termly school reports to the parents
- submits weekly and termly lesson plans to the parents
- compiles a timetable for the child to follow
- compiles, invigilates and scores assignments, tests and exams where necessary and required
- sources all learning material (though the parents pay for all learning material required i.e. textbooks, workbooks etc.)
- sets up and maintains the learning environment in an appropriate and orderly manner
- keeps up to date with relevant curriculum amendments and teaching methods etc.
- keeps up to date with information etc. from the Department of Education
