Senior Phase, Grade 7 to Grade 9 – starting from R12 000

Is generally aged between 21 to 28
Has their own roadworthy vehicle and drivers license
Has 2 to 4 years of teaching experience
Likely studying Teaching or Psychology, could hold a Degree
Would be able to Teach the Children in the selected Curriculum
Would be able to Teach the Children in their Phase
Would issue reports, lesson plans etc.
Is generally SACE registered
MORNINGS ONLY, 08:00 to 13:00:

The following would be considered general roles and responsibilities of a Homeschool Assistant in South Africa, keeping in mind that each family is different so this is a general overview:
- in-person support: present with the child, tutoring and guiding them in accordance with the prescribed curriculum
- liaises with the parents about the child’s progress
- compiles a timetable for the child to follow
- assists them with preparation of assignments, and revision for tests and exams
- sets up and maintains the learning environment in an appropriate and orderly manner
- keeps up to date with relevant curriculum amendments and teaching methods etc.
- keeps up to date with information etc. from the Department of Education
Roles & Responsibilities of a Homeschool Teacher
The following would be considered general roles and responsibilities of a Homeschool Teacher in South Africa, keeping in mind that each family is different so this is a general overview:
- arrives at the child’s home to teach them in accordance with the prescribed curriculum
- liaises with the parents about the child’s progress
- submits termly school reports to the parents
- submits weekly and termly lesson plans to the parents
- compiles a timetable for the child to follow
- compiles, invigilates and scores assignments, tests and exams where necessary and required
- sources all learning material (though the parents pay for all learning material required i.e. textbooks, workbooks etc.)
- sets up and maintains the learning environment in an appropriate and orderly manner
- keeps up to date with relevant curriculum amendments and teaching methods etc.
- keeps up to date with information etc. from the Department of Education
